“When overseas you learn more about your own country, than you do the place you’re visiting.”
– Clint Borgen

When travelling with carry-on luggage, wear the hefty item as half of your travel attire.
If you are bringing boots or sneakers, you should wear them on the flight.
Keep your jacket on board the aircraft (not in your carry-on). These two items alone take up so much room in a rolling carry-on bag. Putting on a sweater? Put on this at the airport. It’s freezing nonetheless!

Yes, you should bring a quality aeroplane pillow, such as the new TRTL blanket, in your travel attire. You need not wear it always, but don’t forget it!

Sarongs

Bring two Turkish towels, lungis, or sarongs, or whatever else you like to bring. They are fantastic for travelling. You can use them on an aeroplane, in a cold airport, to cover your shoulders at sacred sites, and at the pool and beach. I cannot leave the house without my Indian lungi.

Leave the hair products at home.

I am aware that some people believe they require curlers and straighteners, but I can attest that natural hair is always so beautiful. Instead, consider using surf spray. I then spray it on my hair, flip it upside down, and form a loose bun. I just sleep like that. I save so much time because I never have to style my hair.

Packing cubes

I cannot imagine Only this summer did I purchase It is INCREDIBLE how much I adore them. I have two sets so that I may be even more organised. After using these, you will never pack without them again.

Employ the KonMari Method to Organize

This can even be used without packing cubes! Marie offers a very precise method of folding so that you can see each piece of folded material without stacking it. I penned a whole guide on how to use her renowned book. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

Keep your footwear encased

I cannot stand to see soiled travel shoes packed in luggage. I utilise aged cotton purse bags (the bags that purses come in when you buy them). The same holds true for my filthy laundry. I turn them inside out and wash them with the rest of the laundry when the trip is over.

Not having something to protect your shoes from the mud? Take a few shower caps from the hotel bathroom and use them to store your shoes.

PLAN your clothes

I used to simply pack all of my favourite items, including my favourite trousers, shorts, a couple favourite tank tops, skirts, etc. But I would forget the tank top required for a particular top or the slip that accompanied a dress. It was irritating. I now ALWAYS lay out each outfit for trips of 10 days or less. Here is a sample packing list for ten days in Jordan. When I go for a month, I pack enough food for 10 days and then mix and match.

Use a colour scheme to make things easier (notice my neutral colour scheme for Morocco)

Extra purses…

I try not to carry a second pocketbook, but I often wish I did so I could have a range of hues. If you have a bag made of really soft leather, simply flatten it. When carrying a structured bag, it is best to fill it with items and allow it to occupy space. I typically carry additional sunglasses and toiletries that do not fit in my toiletry bag (usually mini shampoo and conditioner).

Do not pack soap.

I used to carry a little bottle of shower gel or bar of soap in a plastic baggie. However, I no longer bother. Every hotel I’ve stayed in provides soap. I only take it now when I’m travelling in the mountains of India or living in homestays. Obviously, if I were to go camping, I would bring soap hehe, but that hasn’t happened recently.

Deal with your cables and adapters.

Please do not just chuck these in:) It is especially crucial to treat Mac chargers with care, as they are notorious for breaking at the seam of the cord to the large white surge protector on the wire. You should also carefully wrap and preserve your wires.

I occasionally utilise a little packing cube or a lovely Indian bag. I carry all of my electronic equipment in one little bag. PS: If your charger is beginning to separate at the plastic covering the wires, use the rubber self-setting gel I’ve tested on my old charger! You simply wrap it around the broken cord and allow it to set for a few minutes. It functions perfectly and is really inexpensive. I pack a modest amount of it in my technical equipment.

Start with lightweight travel gear

The simplest approach to avoid paying overweight fees is to begin with lightweight luggage. IT Baggage is one of the lightest pieces of luggage available, and I can speak for its quality. The bulky, inherited luggage from your ancestors might as well be thrown away! I adore my Delsey the most, but I also have a list of ten other brands for comparison. Here is a comparison between suitcases and backpacks, should you decide to utilise a backpack instead.

I seek out baggage that is lightweight, attractive, extensible, equipped with four-wheel spinners, and designed with organisation in mind.

Liquids are cohesive

I understand that you may like to place your tiny contact solution and lotion in your handbag, as well as some face wash and face lotion in the side pocket of your carry-on. At the security checkpoint, however, it is inconvenient to not have items organised and easily accessible. Consider these items while packing to avoid stress and inconvenience.

Laptop safety

You should not place your laptop in a flimsy carry-on bag and toss it into the overhead compartments. People are careless when putting their belongings away, and turbulence might cause items to move and tumble when they open. I possess a 19-inch carry-on features a designated space for computers. This is the BEST carry-on baggage I’ve ever discovered, and if it ever fails, I’ll be purchasing another one.

Heavy items are placed close to the wheels.

When packing your luggage on its side, you may not consider what will occur when you raise it up on its wheels. Keep the heaviest items close to the wheels and even tilt them so that they remain upright when rolling.

Purchase a luggage scale.

I fly a minimum of twice every month. I always use my small luggage scale. Rather than standing on a scale and subtracting your personal weight from the bag’s weight, it is much more convenient to just slip the hook onto your luggage, raise it up, and see the actual weight. You could be off by a few pounds using that method, whereas this scale is precise. I have an analogue one, but electronic ones are now available.

Maintain necklaces untangled.

The Pinterest-popular tip of threading necklaces through a straw? It genuinely functions. Typically, I pack only one necklace, and I do this for it. If you travel with a few, this is an excellent alternative!
